The Workshop Manager will oversee all vehicle maintenance and repair operations across the company’s fleet. The role ensures optimal performance, reliability, and safety of buses and equipment by managing technicians, enforcing safety standards, scheduling maintenance routines, and coordinating repairs. The ideal candidate must be technically sound, experienced with heavy-duty vehicles, and possess strong leadership and communication skills.

Requirements

Education

  • OND or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or related field.
  • Additional professional training in fleet maintenance, workshop management, or automotive diagnostics is an advantage.

Experience/Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance or mechanical repairs (transport industry preferred).
  • Strong experience managing mechanics, welders, electricians, and workshop teams.
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for buses and diesel engines.
  • Strong leadership, team supervision, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple repair tasks.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Manage all workshop operations, including repairs, servicing, and diagnostics.
  • Daily inspection and maintenance of buses scheduled for trip.
  • Implement and enforce strict safety procedures and maintenance standards.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Supervise mechanics, technicians, and workshop staff to ensure quality work.
  • Maintain accurate workshop records, job cards, and maintenance logs.
  • Liaise with procurement for spare parts and ensure proper inventory control.
  • Report maintenance performance, challenges, and solutions to management.
